Postdoctoral Appointee
Mathematics and Computer Science Division
Argonne National Laboratory

The Mathematics and Computer Science Division of Argonne National
Laboratory invites applications for postdoctoral research position.

Candidates should have received a Ph.D. in computer
science or a related discipline not more than three years
prior to the beginning of the appointment. The
successful candidate will participate in the
division's computer science research activities and in
the development of emerging National Information
Infrastructure projects.

The Mathematics and Computer Science Division has strong research
programs in parallel software tools, numerical methods, and
algorithms. There is special interest in scalable I/O and
networking,
virtual reality environments, and the integration of distributed
computing and multimedia technology with scientific supercomputing.

Particular consideration will be given to a candidate
interested in the software engineering issues arising
from integrating parallel I/O systems into a scientific
computing environment. The division has an outstanding
computational environment that includes
high-performance scientific workstations, a
scientific visualization laboratory, a massively
parallel IBM SP, a multimedia laboratory, and a virtual
environments research facility.

Argonne is located in the southwestern Chicago suburbs, offering the
advantages of affordable housing, good schools,
and access to the cultural attractions of the city.

Applications should be addressed to Walter McFall, Box
mcs-postdoc2, Employment and Placement, Argonne National Laboratory,
9700 S. Cass Avenue, Argonne, IL 60439, and must include a
resume' and the names and addresses of three references.
Further inquiries can be made by sending e-mail to Ewing Lusk or
Bill Gropp at open_positions@mcs.anl.gov.

Argonne is an affirmative action/equal opportunity employer.
