hello,

I seek any information on any studies people may have done
benchmarking the communication performance characteristics of linearly
connected transputers.

I am involved in the design of a system which has a chain of
transputers. My problem is not being able to anticipate the sort of
communications latency on the system under load.

The processing on each transputer is cleanly divided into a
communications handler, running at high priority, and on or more other
processes doing the actual work of the node; all running in parallel.

Communication handling will utilise conventional buffering in software
to de-couple the links from the processing.

The transputers will be T805 units.

If anyone has got some empirically derived heuristics for estimating
communication latency under conditions such as these, I'd be very
pleased to hear from you. If you've got a paper on it then all the
better.

thanks in advance
