I heard a talk some time ago, where the speaker mentioned
the technique to run a (part of a) Fortran program sequentially and
at the same time in parallel on a transputer network.
I'm not sure anymore, why he did it: Either he used the results of
the parallel version for additional computations before they were
confirmed by the sequential version, or he used some runtime methods
to decide, whether data dependencies corrupted the results of the
parallel version and aborted it in favor of the sequential one.

I'd appreciate very much if someone could send me information about
that (or similiar) project(s).

Thanks in advance
