RESEARCH STUDENTSHIP (EPSRC funded): PARALLEL PROCESSING
========================================================

A PhD studentship is available, starting October 1994, funded by the UK
Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council. The research
centres around parallel and novel architecture computing systems. This
includes the development of parallel systems for signal and image
processing and other engineering applications. Application areas
include surface metrology, remote measurement, microbiology, heatflow
modelling.

Examples of research projects: ** A concurrent AI approach to signal
processing. ** Parallel 3-D image analysis and shape description. **
Programmable hardware for signal processing. ** Numerical modelling of
heat transfer and microwave heating.

Keywords: Parallel processing, Transputers, Signal processing,
Instrumentation, Real-time knowledge based systems, Numerical
Modelling, Image Interpretation.

We are looking for someone with a good first degree/MSc in Engineering,
Computer Science, I.T., or similar. The successful candidate would join
the Parallel Processing Research Group, which is supported by Research
Council and European funding. We work in an integrated Engineering
Department, allowing cross-fertilisation between a range of
disciplines. The research environment includes Unix workstations, PCs,
transputer and other multiprocessor systems, DSP and imaging hardware,
and electronic CAD facilities and workshops.

The usual EPSRC eligibility conditions for UK/EU citizens apply.
