                        UTAH STATE UNIVERSITY
           Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering

  Applications are invited for a tenure-track position at the Assistant
Professor level beginning on or about September 1, 1994. Applicants should
have or expect soon a PhD in computer or electrical engineering,
but PhDs in computer science with substantial engineering background may
be considered. Candidates must have experience in modern software development 
techniques, such as object-oriented programming, the design of graphical user 
interfaces, visualization, parallel and distributed computing, and embedded or 
real-time computing. Candidates must be able to teach undergraduate and 
graduate courses in computer engineering, and will be expected to establish a
viable research program and supervise graduate students. Proven success in
research and prior experience in teaching and industry are desirable.

  Utah State University is a land-grant institution located in the 
mountains of Utah, approximately 100 miles north of Salt Lake City,
and at the center of a superb outdoor recreational area. The Electrical 
and Computer Engineering Department has BS, MS, and PhD programs, with 
approximately 300 undergraduate and 100 graduate students. The College 
of Engineering at USU is traditionally among the top five universities 
in the US in research dollars per faculty member, and ample opportunities
exist for collaborative work in space science and engineering, image 
processing, molecular engineering, and numerous areas in natural 
resources.
