The B004 is just the first board that INMOS built which plugged
into the PC. It had 4Mbytes of RAM and an interface to the 8-bit
bus of the PC via a link adaptor.

The link adaptor is not of itself very slow, but the combination
of the link adaptor and the PC's bus is pretty slow, and a number
of companies have produced improved versions of the interface.

Most of them, however, offer the improved interface as an option,
while preserving compatibility with the original INMOS B004
interface.

So you will find it quite hard to buy a transputer board for the
PC which is *not* compatible with the B004.

Hope this is useful

Paul
