I too find it hard to see exactly how the program was structured (which 
channels on which links, etc.).  I thought that maybe the root was always 
initiating the sequence of transfers, thus the other two processes were 
sure to be waiting for communication.
This is a workable scenario (if that is the case).  I've a program that 
runs on a B014 with 4 T800's, using the T2 to switch the root's link 3 among 
the other 3 transputers.  It works fine.

Off the top of my head, I can only think of one suggestion for the original
poster.  Have you programmed the "setup" command into the C004 command 
sequence?  I believe the C004 requires it as a time delay while setting 
up the programmable link.
