                         March 21 - 25, 1994

                              Lecturers:
        D.M. Jackson, G.M. Reed, A.W. Roscoe and J.C.P. Woodcock

The above two courses will take place concurrently. They are presented
in a modular fashion, and hence participants may follow modules from either
course most appropriate to their interests. On the final day, the courses
will combine in a single case study which shows how Z and CSP can be
used together.

The program, devised in part in response to the desires of those already
known to be attending, will be as follows:

Introductory Z Refinement in Z and CSP

--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Monday Basic logic and se theory Introductary CSP

Tuesday A mathematical toolkit Refinement in CSP
                                              Application to automated
                                              verification of protocols and
                                              other applications

Wednesday Schemas Refinement in Z
            Structuring Specifications

Thursday Case studies workshop Case studies:
                                              confidentiality (comparing Z
                                                and CSP approaches)
                                               fault tolerance

Friday Workshop and Case Study: integrity (Z and CSP)

Each morning will be devoted to lectures. In the afternoons, attendees will
be set exercises and practicals and will have the chance to discuss their
interests and intended areas of application with the lecturers.

The modules and case studies involving CSP will be supported by Formal Systems'
refinement checker FDR. ??Z

Places are available on both courses. Inquiries to
