Edinburgh Parallel Computing Centre (EPCC) has two vacancies for
Education and Training specialists to join an established group providing
training and applications consultancy for High Performance Computing
(HPC) users. The staff will contribute to the development and
presentation of training materials on the concepts, tools and methods
used to exploit HPC technology.

The posts are available immediately and would be funded until
October 1996, subject to review. Successful applicants will be
appointed on the RA1 (12,827 - 20,442 -- under review), or RA2 scales
(18,034 - 25,097 -- under review) according to qualifications and
experience.

EPCC is an interdisciplinary research centre within the University of
Edinburgh and has over 50 professional staff. The Centre currently
provides national services on a number of powerful parallel systems
including a 16k Connection Machine CM-200, and various large Meiko
i860 and T800 Computing Surfaces. A 20-node Meiko Computing Surface
CS-2 has recently been installed, and a 256-processor CRAY T3D system
will be installed shortly.

Successful applicants will have skills in one or more of the following
areas: development and presentation of training material; HPC
programming (including vector, data-parallel, and message-passing
systems); computational methods; scientific visualisation and computer
graphics. They will be expected to produce training materials in a
variety of media, such as lectures, tutorials, demonstrations, video
and multi-media for presentation at Edinburgh and around the UK. They
will also be expected to liaise closely with other departments within
the University of Edinburgh.

Candidates should send a curriculum vitae and covering letter by 16
February 1994 to:
