The 10th annual international Conference on high performance computers,
hosted by SUPER*CAN and by the Universities of Ottawa and Carleton, and by
IEEE (Ottawa Section) and OPCOM, will be held June 5-7 1996 at the Citadel
Inn in Ottawa, the Capital City of Canada. Building on the success of the
1995 Conference, held in Montreal, the Conference is calling for research
papers in a variety of areas, and also seeking the presentation of
industrial applications. The Conference is also planning to have a session
on high performance computing in Eastern Europe, one on metacentres, and one
on high speed fiber optic networks.

                              Conference Chair

                           Professor Bernard A Hodson
                         President, GENETIX Software Inc.

                            Conference Co-Chair

                           Professor Ivan Stojmenovic
                      Computer Science, University of Ottawa

                                Program Chair

                              Professor Frank Dehne
School of Computer Science, Carleton University

                              Program Co-Chair

                              Dr Jacek Chrostowski
                   OPCOM CONSORTIUM, National Research Council

An international Program Committee, similar in structure to 1995, is being
                                 assembled.

                             CONFERENCE TOPICS

Research papers should emphasise parallel, distributed, or vector systems.
Industrial application papers are sought that indicate both successes and
failures in applying parallel processing techniques to industrial
applications. As with the 1995 Conference, vendors will be invited to make
presentations, and demonstrate their products (this proved very popular in
                                   1995).

Some suggested topics for presentation include robotics, embedded systems,
signal and image processing, metacentres, parallel distributed processing,
photonics networks, neural networks adapted to high performance computers,
speech synthesis, real time data processing, visual presentation of parallel
systems, performance measures, telecommunications. Industrial application
papers may cover any area of high performance computing.

                            SUBMISSION OF PAPERS

One page abstracts are requested by December 15th 1995. They will be
                  accepted electronically (ASCII only) at
                              supercan@ieee.ca
or by mail for those without electronic access (paper plus ASCII 3.5" disc)
to the Program Chair. The full paper for those submitting research papers
must be received by February 5th 1996. It will be optional for industrial
application papers to submit a full paper, as these papers will not be
refereed, except through the abstract. Notification of acceptance/rejection
will be mailed by March 5th 1996. The final copy must be received by March
                                 31st 1996.

Abstracts will be circulated at the Conference and will available on the WEB
                 (http://www.ieee.ca/supercan/hpcs96.html/),
as will details on the Conference.

Conference proceedings will be electronically published on CD-ROM shortly
after the Conference. This method will also give the opportunity to have
video and sound clips, should this be useful.

                              CONFERENCE VENUE

The Conference will take place at Citadel Inn in Ottawa. A block of rooms
has been reserved at the hotel, which will be held until May 4th 1996,
however early reservation is recommended. The hotel can be contacted
directly for reservations, mentioning the SUPER*CAN Conference to get the
                       special rates. The address is
