Hi Torsten,

the full name for MVA is Mean Value Analysis.

I just remember exactly, for what this stands, but i think
it has something to do with sale-networks(in german: Vertriebsnetzwerk)
like the travelling-salesman-problem. It stands for a class of applications
with the following characteristics:
   - a so called `wave front` computation
   - reiterating sequential code

I've got this information, because i read another paper of the same authors.
I hope, this information is not too late.
