JOB DESCRIPTION
TITLE: MPP Hardware Support Engineer (second of two positions)
ORGANIZATION:	Meiko Federal Systems, Inc.
LOCATION:	On-site at the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory,
							Livermore, CA.

DESCRIPTION:	We are looking for a self motivated and experienced person to
provide ongoing hardware support and maintenance services for the first rate
production MPP computing facilities at Livermore National Laboratory. This
large, advanced MPP production computer system is used by top computer
scientists and code physicists working on state of the art scientific modeling
codes. Work in collaboration with other on-site Meiko engineers and with staff
of Livermore Computer Center and Lab User Groups to provide a smooth interface
between the Meiko CS-2 system and its user community.

REQUIREMENTS:	Familiarity with and experience of providing 7x24 hardware
support services on high performance production computing systems is highly
desirable. Experience with the Meiko CS-2 system is a plus. Experience with
the Sunsoft Solaris operating system is preferred. Good oral and written
communications skills are required. Aptitude for passing on expertise to
others is strongly desirable. Self reliance and motivation to learn new
skills, on the front-line, is also desirable.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENT:	This position involves working with two systems, one of
which is classified, so the successful applicant should either have a current
US Department of Energy Q clearance, or have the potential to obtain this
security clearance. This means that applicants must be US citizens. Beeper
accessibility is also required.

HOURS:	This is a full-time appointment, with an indefinite term which will be
not less than 12 months initially (subject to satisfactory performance), and
will probably extend for four years approximately. The successful applicant
will share 7x24 on-call beeper coverage with the current hardware engineer on
a 50/50 cooperative basis. This is not too bad in practice, since there is a
staff of operators who are experienced enough to handle many of the routine
issues that arise.

SALARY & BENEFITS: Salary commensurate with experience. Health benefits
provided. Negotiated relocation costs covered if required.

APPLICATION PROCEDURE: Please send resume details to Mr. Ed Nyquist
at EFEF38A@prodigy.com
