For an introductory talk about parallel processing, I'm looking for some
pictures of early parallel computers. In particular, there are two
"machines" that I'd like to show:

1. In Lewis Richardson's 1922 book "Weather Prediction by Numerical
Process" there is a wonderful description of a (global) weather simulation
by 2000 clerks using pencil, paper, and slide rule. I vaguely remember
seeing an artist's rendering of this idea (obviously, it was never
actually built). But I can't find the picture. In particular, it's not
in the Dover reprint of the book. I'd really appreciate it if somebody
could confirm my memory.

2. Similarly, Richard Feinman organized a small army of "human
calculators" to do the CFD calculations for the Manhattan project. I'd be
interested to find any pictures of that group (particularly them at work).

Any references/pointers/hints would be appreciated. Please send to
chk@cs.rice.edu. Thanks in advance

                  Chuck Koelbel
