Technical Support Analysts
Mathematics and Computer Science Division
Argonne National Laboratory

Argonne National Laboratory invites outstanding candidates to 
apply for staff positions in the Mathematics and Computer
Science Division.  

The selected candidates will participate in the technical
support, operation, and user support of the divisional
computational infrastructure and the High-Performance
Computing Research Facility in order to increase
the productivity of the scientific and administrative staff.
Specific emphasis on these positions will be to support and
enhance the end-user workstation software and hardware
environments.

These positions require comprehensive knowledge of and
expertise in using UNIX for system support and administration. 
Also required are excellent skills with various systems tools
and languages, in particular Perl; considerable knowledge and
expertise in working with the networked file systems NFS and 
AFS; and excellent programming skills in one or more of Fortran, 
C, and or C++.  Some familiarity with computing in the context 
of scientific applications is desirable.  The requisite level of 
knowledge and skills is typically achieved through formal 
education to the bachelor's degree level or equivalent in 
computer science and one to two years of experience in a
scientific support position within a research environment, or
equivalent.

The Mathematics and Computer Science Division supports an advanced
computational environment that includes access to high-performance
scientific workstations, a scientific visualization and 
virtual reality laboratory, and state-of-the-art parallel 
computers (including a 128-node IBM SP). For more information
