WOPA'96: Call for Contributed Presentations

May 25-26, 1996
Philadelphia, PA, U.S.A.

The goal of the Workshop on Parallel Algorithms (WOPA) is to
promote the exchange and dissemination of information among
researchers in this field.

The fourth Workshop on Parallel Algorithms, WOPA '96, is one
of the constituent meetings of the Federated Computing Research
Conference (FCRC). The constituent FCRC meetings will partially
overlap in time to facilitate the interaction of the researchers
from different fields of computer science and to expose them to
a wider range of research problems and results. The constituent
meetings are:

CRAW W: CRAW Workshop on Academic Careers for Women
STOC: ACM Symposium on Theory of Computing
SCG: ACM Symposium on Computational Geometry
STRUCT: IEEE Conference on Structures in Complexity Theory
PODC: ACM Symposium on Principles of Distributed Computing
NIM: SIAM Symposium on Networks and Information Management
ISCA: International Symposium on Computer Architecture
	ICS: International Conference on Supercomputing
SPT: Symposium on Parallel Tools (formerly PDD)
IOPADS: I/O in Parallel and Distributed Systems
PLDI: ACM Conference on Programming Language and
			Implementation
ICFP: Conference on Functional Programming and its Extensions
METRICS:	ACM Conference on Measurement and Modeling of
			Computer Systems
PADS: Workshop on Parallel and Distributed Simulation
	Genome: Genome Informatics Symposium
	PPoPP: Principles of Programming Workshop

As in WOPA '93, the program for the fourth workshop will include a
small number of contributed talks in addition to invited talks.
The purpose is to encourage more complete coverage of recent
research and provide an additional venue for researchers to present
significant contributions.

To this end, WOPA solicits the submission of proposals for contributed
research talks and technical expositions in all areas of parallel
algorithms. WOPA is an informal meeting and does not publish
proceedings. Submissions that overlap, to some extent, with papers
presented or submitted elsewhere are allowed. However, (1) such
overlap and its extent must be indicated in the submission, and
(2) a submission which is mainly a replication of a paper presented
or submitted elsewhere is not acceptable.

Examples of welcome submissions include: (1) a presentation
summarizing a doctoral thesis, (2) a presentation describing
themes, paradigms, principles, methods or other perspectives that
span several individual papers.

A submission should include: (1) An abstract of 2-3 pages presenting
an overview of the proposed talk, and (2) appropriate information
appendices to enable technical screening.

The abstract should contain a succinct description of the problems
addressed, the main results obtained, and the significance of the
work in the field of parallel algorithms. The appendices should
provide sufficient information to allow the evaluation of the
validity and quality of the proposed contributed presentation.
In case of multiple authors, a contact author should be indicated.

Please submit 5 copies of an abstract and the appendices by
November 28, 1995 to:
