Edinburgh Parallel Computing Centre (EPCC) currently has a number of
vacancies in different areas. EPCC is an interdisciplinary research
centre within the University of Edinburgh and has some 50 professional
staff. The Centre currently provides services on a number of
supercomputers including a 320-processor Cray T3D system, a 16k
Connection Machine CM-200, and various large Meiko CS-1 and CS-2
systems. The Cray T3D system is the UK's premier national High
Performance Computing (HPC) facility and is amongst the most powerful
machines in the world.

EPCC's current technical vacancies are detailed below. Please note
that for all posts, a one year contract will be offered in the first
instance, although we expect that this will be renewed annually.

EPCC-TEC Coordinator
====================

EPCC Training and Education Centre (EPCC-TEC) is an established group
providing training and applications consultancy. We require someone to
coordinate the activities of EPCC-TEC and to contribute to the
development and presentation of training materials on the concepts,
tools and methods used to exploit HPC technology. There will also be
opportunities to support `Grand Challenge' users of the T3D and
CEC-funded visitors.

Successful applicants will have skills in at least one of the following
areas: development and presentation of training material or HPC
programming (including vector, data-parallel, and message-passing
computing). Experience in project management, computational methods,
scientific visualisation and/or computer graphics would be
advantageous.

This post is available immediately and successful applicants will be
appointed on the RA1 (14,317 -- 21,519 pounds), or RA2 scales (18,985 --
26,429 pounds) according to qualifications and experience.

TRACS Applications Support
==========================

Training and Research on Advanced Computing Systems (TRACS) is a
European visitor programme funded by the CEC. We require an additional
Applications Support person to provide technical consultancy and
programming support to visiting academic and industrial researchers,
undertaking research in a range of applications areas using EPCC's HPC
facilities.

Successful applicants will be experienced in HPC programming (including
vector, data-parallel and message passing computing). Applicants must
be interested in applying HPC to a wide range of problems and
disciplines. They will be able to demonstrate the ability to
assimilate information quickly. Experience in computational methods,
scientific visualisation and/or tutoring would be advantageous. Fluency
in an additional EC language would be useful.

This post is available immediately and successful applicants will be
