                       Call for Papers
                     Special Issue of the
                  Scientific Programming Journal
                             on
   Languages, Compilers and Run-Time Systems for Scalable Computers

Papers are solicited for a special issue of the Scientific Programming
journal focusing on Languages, Compilers and Run-Time Systems for Scalable
Computers planned for the Spring of 1996.

The objective of this special issue is to provide a forum to report new,
original research findings bridging the areas of language, compilers
and run-time systems for scalable computers. This special issue
will also identify the future directions of research in this field.

Original, unpublished contributions which focus on operating system and
architecture impact on parallelizing compilers are invited. Topics of interest
include, but are not limited to:

 * Machine-independent parallel programming languages, compilers and tools;
 * Compiler and run-time communication optimizations;
 * Parallel computations over irregular structures;
 * Support for task and coarse grain parallelism;
 * Optimizations in parallelizing compilers;
 * Experience with applying parallel programming languages and software
    systems to applications,

Authors should follow the Scientific Programming manuscript format. Five
copies of complete double-spaced manuscripts should be sent to the guest
editor by September 30, 1995. The authors will be notified of the decision
by December 31, 1996 and the final manuscript ready for publication will be
due on January 31, 1996.
