Workshop Title:Parallel Implementations of Neural Networks

Organised by:Dimitris Tsaptsinos, London and South-East High
Performance Centre(SEL-HPC)
In cooperation with IEEE UK Regional Interest Group on Neural Networks.

Objectives:The popularity of Artificial Neural Networks (ANN) is increasing
rapidly, as demonstrated by the escalating use in more and more diverse
application areas.

As ANN implementation moves towards more complex application areas, larger
networks using larger sets of traing data are required, which results in slow
training. Clearly there is a demand for faster training.

The objective of the workshop is to highlight the speakers' experiences in
going `parallel' in order to achieve a speed-up in learning and to show the
benefits and problems in doing so.

Target Audience:This event is primarily aimed for those who have a knowledge
of Artificial Neural Networks and wish to learn about implementations of ANN
on high performance machine. A basic introduction to ANN will also be given
hence it should also be of interest to newcomers.

Speakers

Gordon Dodds (Queens University) Hardware/software for parallel processing
applied to real-time planning and control for multiple robotic applications
Shaogang Gong (Queen Mary and Westfield College) Introduction to Neural
Networks and Its Applications in Face Recognition
Argiris Krikelis (Brunel University) Massively Parallel Associative
Implementation of Neural Networks
