I give a course to second-year mathematics students on
computer organization and architecture. The structure
of parallel machines is included (hypercubes, bus-based
multiprocessors, vector computers, etc). Included are also
some simple parallel algorithms, showing why these
parallel architectures are useful.

The question is: are there good simulators of parallel
machines out there that can be used for small programming
exercises showing the relation between the algorithms
(e.g., simple matrix operastions) and the underlying
machines, that run on UNIX workstations ?

Thanks in advance,
