A recent conversation with a colleague resulted in him stating his support
for bit-sliced architectures for parallel processing. Myself, I am
not too knowledgeable in the area other than CM-2 uses this form of
parallelism. We did not get a chance to discuss his opinions too
much but we probably will soon. So ... I am looking for some
information/opinions/thoughts on the subject. What are the issues?
Who is currently doing work in this area? What classes of algorithms
are well suited for bit-slicing? What are its strengths/weakness?
Anything that can help me carry on a more knowledgeable conversation
on the topic. Any pointers to works published on the field would be
appreciated also. Related topics? Think of my interests as being a
survey of this field. Could you forward responses directly to me also
since there is a lag in my getting posts to the newsgroup?

Thanks in advance,
