Postdoctoral Appointees
Mathematics and Computer Science Division
Argonne National Laboratory

Argonne National Laboratory invites outstanding candidates to apply
for a postdoctoral research position in the Mathematics and Computer
Science Division. Candidates should have a Ph.D. in
computer science or a related discipline and
comprehensive knowledge in at least one of the following areas:
compiler design, optimizing compilers, software tools,
software design, or performance evaluation. A good knowledge of
computer architecture and computer systems is highly desirable.

The successful candidate will participate in the development of
algorithms and software tools for the automatic differentiation of
large-scale computer codes.
This project is interdisciplinary in nature and interfaces with
efforts in numerical optimization and parallel computing.
Information on the computational differentiation project can be
found in http://www.mcs.anl.gov/Projects/autodiff/index.html.

The Mathematics and Computer Science Division supports an excellent
computational environment that includes access to high-performance
scientific workstations, a scientific visualization
and virtually reality laboratory, and
state-of-the-art parallel computers (including the IBM SP and the
Intel Touchstone DELTA).

Argonne is located in the southwestern Chicago suburbs, offering
the advantages of affordable housing and good schools, as well as
easy access to the cultural attractions of the city.

Applicants must have received their Ph.D. not more than three years
