Our presentation on February 13th will be one of the most significant
and wide ranging ever. All of us know that the Microsoft/Intel alliance
and that of IBM, Apple, and Motorola are on a collision course in their
respective drives to capture the consumer market; 1995 is shaping up as
the year of major confrontation. With that in mind, we asked two key
IBM managers to discuss their company's plans for multiprocessing and
high performance computing, in general. Joe Baron was a manager
involved with the Power Visualization System used by major video post
production facilities. He plans to give us an overview of the architecture
and philosophy embodied in the PowerPC/Power Reference Platform
agreement being put together with Apple and Motorola. Too, he'll talk
about how OS2, graphics API's, and system object models fit into
IBM's plans. Dick Pratt will partner with Joe to discuss PowerPC
Developer Enablement Programs - hardware programs and contacts,
software programs and contacts, and development toolkits. PPC has
asked them to talk in explicit terms about what IBM would like from
third parties and how our entrepreneurial members can partner with the
company - beta, seed, etc. Join us for a very important meeting.

A discussion of member projects currently underway and other
issues of interest to entrepreneurs begins at 7:15PM and the main
meeting starts promptly at 7:45PM at Sun Microsystems at 901 San
Antonio Road in Palo Alto. This is just off the southbound San
Antonio exit of 101. Northbound travelers also exit at San Antonio
and take the overpass to the other side of 101.

Please be prompt; as usual, we expect a large attendance; don't be
left out or left standing. There is a $10 fee for non-members and
members will be admitted free.  Yearly membership fee is $50;
corporate membership fee is $400/year.
