With PVM, you can use the RouteDirect option. FDDI and Fiber-channel 
cards are available for HP workstations. The following numbers were
measured with HP's version of PVM:


Psend/Precv (FDDI) Optimized K-400 100MHz

Roundtrip T = 23666 (us)  (6.7608 MB/s)      Data size: 80000


Psend/Precv (FC-LWP) K-460 180MHz 1MBx1MB cache

Roundtrip T = 8065 (us)  (19.8388 MB/s)      Data size: 80000
