I built xpvm 1.2.1 on an Alpha running Digital Unix, using pvm V3.3.10
and couldn't add hosts.

The 1st problem I had was that I was using a pre-V3.3.10 pvmgs (group
server demon) - I had an old version under ~/pvm3 and it was using that
instead of the one under $PVM_ROOT.

After getting that straightened out - so I was using a consistent set of
pvm software, I still couldn't add some hosts. I tracked this problem
down to old copies of /tmp/pvmd.xxx on the hosts I couldn't add.

After zapping these files, the add host mechanism seems to work ok.
