Hi,

I ran into a problem today the source of which I can not
identify.
When starting a program, I always get the following error
message:

libpvm [pid13113]: pvmbeatask() shmget: can't connect to pvmd: No such
file or directory
libpvm [pid13113]: pvmbeatask() shmget: can't connect to pvmd: No such
file or directory
libpvm [pid13113]: pvmbeatask() shmget: can't connect to pvmd: No such
file or directory
libpvm [pid13113]: pvm_mytid(): Can't contact local daemon
*** ERROR *** PVM is not responding. Please start PVM before using
parspin !

The last line is output from the program (aka parspin) when pvmfmytid
returns
an error - in this case PvmSysErr. This error message is listed neither
in
the FAQ nor in the libpvm manpage. The error message results from the
routine
pvmbeatask in libpvmshmem.c.
I checked the obvious things suggested in the FAQ. All /tmp/pvmd.UID
files
are removed when the pvm is halted.
Any suggestions on where this error may come from ?

		Axel

btw, System is pvm3311/SUN4SOL2
