According to the SP2 performance measurements in:
http://www.epm.ornl.gov/pvm/perf-graph.html
ORNL PVM 3.3.8 and up is faster (using pvm_psend()/pvm_precv()) than
PVMe as (I pressume) pvm_psend()/pvm_precv() maps directly to an IBM
MPI call. The difference in latency and especially bandwidth is
significant - moreover PVMe has slightly less functionality compared
to ORNL PVM. On a AIX 3.2.* platform though PVMe offers much better
performance.
