You have to upgrade your SP2 to AIX 4.1.4, where IBM's MPI
implementation is part of the Parallel Environment (optional software).
The SP2 port of PVM uses MPI, but I don't know if the PVM developers
have made a version that works with the new MPI and AIX 4.1.4.

Unless you want to bother with performance measurements, I would
suggest that you use IBM's "enhanced" PVM product PVMe.

Under AIX 4.1.4 on the SP2 the PVMe is compatible with
PVM version 3.3.7 (the AIX 3.2.5 PVMe is compatible with some
old PVM version 3.2).

Perhaps your real problem is getting your SP2 upgraded to the
latest IBM system software ?
