                  Call for Participation

              First International Workshop on
         HPC Technology for Embedded Applications

             April 15, 1996, Honolulu, Hawaii

at the 10th IEEE International Parallel Processing Symposium (IPPS)

The International Workshop on HPC Technology for Embedded Applications is
intended to be a forum for the presentation and discussion of implementations,
research findings, and experiences in the applications of High Performance
Computing (HPC) technology for embedded applications. Of interest is both the
development of relevant technology as well as well as the transfer and
application of this technology in embedded systems.

Topics:

The first workshop will focus on the issues and approaches in applying HPC
technologies to specific embedded applications or system requirements. Sessions
will have a discussion-oriented format with 20-30 minute presentations. Sessions
are planned in the following areas:

  1. Embedded HPC Algorithms, Applications, and Benchmarks: addressing parallel
computing needs of applications such as radar signal processing,
     surveillance, automated target recognition, etc.

  2. Embedded HPC Tools and Environments: addressing software design,
programming methods, and aides for development, testing, and tuning.

  3. Embedded HPC Operating Systems and Middle-ware Services: addressing
     real-time scheduling, fault-tolerance, and static/dynamic resource
     management needs of embedded applications.

Submission:

Authors are invited to submit by email a 1-page ascii abstract of their
presentation to the Devesh Bhatt (bhatt@src.honeywell.com) by April
1. Acceptance notifications will be made by April 8.

Due to the time constraints, only abstracts will be published in the
proceedings. Full papers will be made available on a Web page after the
workshop.
