I have implemented a PVM version of the freeware raytracing program POV-Ray.
It allows distribution of a rendering across a number of CPUs, and also
can display the rendering in progress on most types of X displays. The
source code, demo scenes, and documentation for POV-Ray is available at:
ftp://ftp.povray.org/pub/povray/Official/Generic-Unix/povsrc.tar.gz
ftp://ftp.povray.org/pub/povray/Official/Generic-Unix/povdoc.tar.gz
ftp://ftp.povray.org/pub/povray/Official/Generic-Unix/povscn.tar.gz

Note that you need to retireve all of files to get a working system.
The povscn file contains a number of demo scenes. There are mirrors
at of the official POV-Ray site that may be closer to you at:
ftp://ftp.shu.ac.uk/pub/computing/packages/raytrace/ftp.povray.org/
ftp://ftp.informatik.uni-oldenburg.de/pub/pov-ray/

My PVM patch to POV-Ray is available at:
http://www-mddsp.enel.ucalgary.ca/People/adilger/povray/pvmpov29.tar.gz

Contact me if you have problems with it.

Cheers, Andreas.
