	Hi,

I'm trying to estimate the speedup of a future pvm application
using the timing of a serial version of the program.
To estimate packing and unpacking time, I use a modified version
of the timing/timing_slave example that comes with the pvm distibution.
(modified so that unpacking is timed too).

I find that unpacking can be up to 20 times costlier tha packing
for large messages. Any one can explain this phenomena?
I'll be grateful. Btw, I use a Linux box for the experiments.

	Thnx.
