Greetings all:

I am working on a study of (small scale) shared memory
multiprocessors. One of the objectives is a comparative analysis of
existing (commercial) systems using this architecture. Issues of
interest to me are the architectural (hardware) support for process
synchronization and the problem of multiple caches.

I understand that many vendors have available shared-mem MP systems,
but I need to focus only on a few in my research. The question is: for
which systems is there more technical info and documentation
available? which ones were out for longer and analyzed more? which
ones have a more advanced architecture?

Also, any other suggestions, opinions, pointers on the above topics
would be very useful.

Help will be greatly appreciated. Please reply by email.

  Cristi
