                 Computer Programmer Wanted
                             for
                 a parallel programming project
                      in Human Genetics

We are seeking a full-time computer programmer with experience
in parallel programming, incremental algorithms, Pascal, C,
FORTRAN, and Unix. The project involves developing parallel
and incremental algorithms for computing likelihoods on pedigrees.
Note that this project does not involve sequence analysis,
but rather likelihood computations on a pedigree (a tree
structure). Additional projects include working on software
to genetically map complex diseases. We would like to fill this
position as soon as possible.

The ideal candidate will have an interest and experience in
parallel programming, a Masters degree, and a knowledge and
interest in genetics, statistics, and mathematics.

Please send your resume by e-mail to jeff@sherlock.hgen.pitt.edu
Please include a cover letter indicating your experience (if
any) in parallel programming, genetics, statistics, and mathematics.
We will also need at least two reference letters (three is
preferred), which may be sent by e-mail. However, original
reference letters must also be sent by regular mail.

Due to the volume of generic responses, we will not be able
to respond to every submission. Your likelihood of success
will be greatly increased by a carefully-worded cover letter
that outlines why you are qualified for this job.

Please note that, if needed, you must have a currently valid
work permit or green card.
