Hi!

We are using a DEC Alpha Server 2100 with 4 Alpha CPUs running OSF/1 3.2
We had problems with pvm 3.3.7 and now with 3.3.8:

1. The PvmD is already running, my programm calls pvm_gettid to see if xpvm
is running. A core-dump results, this is the error-log of the programm:
menu -f roundrobin.mcfg
libpvm [t40009]: pvmbeatask() shmget: No space left on device
libpvm [t40009]: pvm_start_pvmd(): Duplicate host
Segmentation fault (core dumped)

2. If the pvmd is NOT running, my programm starts up fine, starts the pvmd
(see above), and wants to spawn a second program to start some working.
This is the error-log:
[t80040000] ready 3.3.8 Mon Aug 7 15:24:02 1995
[t80040000] [t40003] pvm3/bin/ALPHAMP/station: mCfgFile is:
/usr/users/info2/hin
ker/diplom/menu/roundrobin.mcfg
[t80040000] [t40003] pvm3/bin/ALPHAMP/station: X-Display is:
wrzx85.rz.uni-wuerz
burg.de:0
[t80040000] [t40003] libpvm [t40003]: pvmbeatask() shmget: No space left on
devi
ce

The last line says the same thing about no space on a device, probably TMP.

3. We suspect that PVMBUFSIZE is either too small or TMP is too small for the
buffer.

Has anyone been able to use pvm on the ALPHAMP architecture? If yes, what did
we do wrong during the installation? Any (ANY!) help is appreciated!

Thanks,
Stefan
