There is a really good book about PVM:
PVM: Parallel Virtual Machine, A User's Guide and Tutorial for Networked
   Parallel Computing

You may find it at netlib2.cs.utk.edu via ftp in pvm3/book directory.

Or you may check http://www.netlib.org/pvm3
(http://www.netlib.org/pvm3/book/pvm-book.html for the book)

or type: rcp anon@netlib2.cs.utk.edu:pvm3/book/pvm-book.ps pvm-book.ps

or sen a mail to netlib@ornl.gov with this text:
   send pvm-book.ps from pvm3/book

If you are interested is a serious use of PVM (for teaching too) you should
take a look to Xmdb, pvmtape and ParaGraph. With ParaGraph you can depitch
parallel applications behavior in a intuitive and meaningfull way.

Enjoy,
