In order for other users to solve your problem, you must provide some more
descriptive information, like what is the error message you received etc.

Now, for your specific case, have you tries to "rsh" the pvmd manually ?
Also, sometime the adding of another daemon fails due to the .cshrc file,
like when you use echo in this file or so.
