Hi PVM users,

This is to announce the availability of DBPVM 3.0 -- a Motif-based
debugging environment and interface to PVM.

DBPVM 3.0 is based on PVM 3.3.x. It provides facilities to display/control
PVM tasks centrally. In its simplest form, it can be used as just a
GUI to PVM. Control of standard *input* and output is provided for each
task. PVM Console interface is also provided as part of the environment.

In the advanced form, it can be used to debug PVM tasks. Tasks can also
be grouped together and controlled as groups, similar to SIMD debugging.

DBPVM 3.0 is easy to install. Any PVM user can install DBPVM for his/her
own use. *No* source code changes for applications are required to use DBPVM
interface. Existing applications can be run as they are. It can be easily setup
on per-user basis, or for site-wide use. The installation process and software
organization is along the lines of those for PVM. Instructions for installation
are provided. Documentation is included in the release.

DBPVM 3.0 is a port of DBPVM 2.0 from PVM 3.2.5 to PVM 3.3.x. It is
reliable and robust. It has been used on SUN4, SGI5, MASPAR, SYMM and HPPA.
Work is on to port it to other platforms.

DBPVM can be obtained by anonymous ftp from ftp.cc.gatech.edu
as pub/software/dbpvm/dbpvm3/dbpvm3.0.tar.Z. It can also be obtained by
sending mail to kalyan@cc.gatech.edu with a subject line of "Send dbpvm3.0".

Try it out! Feedback and suggestions for improvements will be appreciated.
