Hello,

I've been wondering why the hosts in my setup don't always join the
"PVM-machine", even when they are all up (telnetting works) and all the
directories pointing to pvmd and user executables are correct. It seems that
the machines which are not in the local LAN are the most likely to NOT to join
the PVM. But they don't "stay" out or join in consistently, sometimes a
particular machine does join in, sometimes not. It's a bit strange, to say the
least... Could this behaviour have something to do with the architecture of
those machines (RS6K, all the others are SUN4/SUN4SOL2) OR that I have a
different user name for those machines and have to type in the password for
them OR that the machines aren't in the local LAN, but connected to it with a
laser link (of all the things...) OR that pvmd doesn't start, if the load of
the host machine is too high (as it often is with those RS6K machines) OR
something else? Anybody have any ideas? This isn't really a terrible
horrible problem, but I'd still like to know why this is happening... Thanks.
