Applications are invited for at least one software development position
available at the School of Computer Science, Carleton University Ottawa.
The  position is in the Application-Oriented Parallel Processing
Group headed by J.-R. Sack. Presently, this group consists of two postdocs,
three PhD students and Masters/Undergraduate students. The group closely
interacts, working on parallel processing of spatial data in an R&D project
funded partially by industry and government. Applied, ie., software
development is expected, publications are encouraged. 

Applicants will be working on state-of-the-art parallel computer equipment
and on topics of high practical relevance. The work environment is
excellent and applicants must be able to cooperate in a team.

QUALIFICATIONS
A strong  background in parallel programming is
required. Application-oriented work in GIS or related fields are assests.

TERM
Typically for one year, but special terms are negotiable. Renewal possible.
This is not a position offered by the Carleton University; it is offered
and funded in the context of the research project.

THE SCHOOL
The School has 18 full-time faculty with particular research
strengths in algorithms and complexity, intelligent systems,
object-oriented systems, and parallel and distributed computing.
The School offers both undergraduate honours programs and graduate
programs at the Masters and the Ph.D. level.  Carleton is located in Ottawa,
the capital of Canada and a major center of advanced technology research 
and development.
