Trouble is, without pvmd(s), it's not really a pvm implementation at
all, it's a pvm look-a-like front end for the meiko cs2 resource
manager.  Mind you, this is only a problem for me because I wanted to
link the cs2 into a heterogeneous pvm network. 

Thanks for those who answered my post -- I have followed the example
code, and believe my program should behave correctly, and yet... when
I use pvm_spawn, the spawned program segv's as soon as it attempts
file i/o, even though it runs fine using prun.
