Do a
rcp anon@netlib2.cs.utk.edu:/pvm3/book/pvm-book.ps pvm-book.ps
and print the 1.8+MB post script file (best with a printer that does
double sided / duplexed prints). You will wind up having a 280 pages
book written by the authors of PVM
"PVM:Parallel Virtual Machine --- A users guide and Tutorial for Networked
Parallel Computing"
which should answer all of you questions. If I just had the time to read it!
