Hello, we are researching parallel computers and was hoping to get a
good understanding of the differences between, MMP and SMP Computers,
both from the hardware and software perspectives. Looking for a
detailed breakout of the system components in both MPP and SMP
computers (i.e., BUS, RAM, CPUs, Storage) Especially
components, coordination techniques etc that distinguish MPP from SMP
Computers.

A. Also which of the following are TRUE MPP Computers and why ?

        1. NCube 2S Series
        2. ATT 3600
        3. Pyramid Mile and Meshine
        4. DEC MASPAR ?

B. What are the specific features that distinguish MPP Databases from
    SMP databases ?

C. Does Oracle 7.1 Open Parallel Server fully exploit the
capabilities of an MPP Computer, and which MPP computer in
particular is it best suited to exploit ?

D. What is the "best" database/MPP Computer pair available today ?
Best can be calibrated in terms of "Open System Environment"
suitabilty and in terms of software fully exploiting
    hardware and vice versa.

Thank you very much for your input even if it is a
pointer to a better place to ask the questions.
