India's Supercomputer Put On Sale

India's state-of-the-art supercomputer "Param 9000" was proudly
showcased for customers at an international exhibition held in
Washington from November 15 to 17.  The supercomputer cost between
$800,000 to $4 million  as opposed to the price tag of $10 million 
for an American made supercomputer.

INDIA DISPLAYS PARAM 9000 IN US
India has, for the first time, put on display abroad, its param 9000, 
parallel supercomupter, and is the only country other than the handful of 
industrial nations to manufacture such an advanced technology product, 
UNI reports from Washington.
The Pune-based Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC) 
yesterday unveiled its param 9000 at "supercomputing 94", an 
international computer exhibition currently in progress here.
