Maybe I've found something for you. Try to connect Juan Leon or Allan L. 
Fisher or Peter Steenkiste from the Schoole of Computer Science, Carnegie
Mellon University Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.(Juan.Leon@cd.cmu.edu)
I got a paper called "Fail-safe PVM" written by those people. It seems to
be right for your problem.
