We just installed pvm3.3.3, and have run into
a bizarre problem. We have a local network
of Sun SPARCstations. If we start our pvm
console on a machine running SunOS 4.1.3, and then
add hosts runing SunOS 5.3, this works fine. However,
if we start our pvm console on a machine running SunOS
5.3, then we cannot add any other machine via the console.
For example,
watson% pvm
pvm> add moriarty
libpvm [t40001]: pvm_addhosts(): Pvmd system error
pvm> conf
1 host, 1 data format
                    HOST DTID ARCH SPEED
    watson.hgen.pitt.edu 40000 SUN4SOL2 1000

But on moriarty, the pvm log file seems to indicate nothing is wrong:
moriarty% more pvml.16
[t80100000] ready 3.3.3 Wed Jul 27 14:41:05 1994

and the pvmd appears on moriarty, even though the pvm console does not
think it is there:
moriarty% !ps
ps -ax | grep dweeks
 15223 ? S 0:00 /shared/watson/usr1/users/dweeks/pvm3/lib/SUN4SOL2/pvmd

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you,
