When I posted my question I didn't mention that I am using a
network of SPARC workstations.
I tried your suggestion. It works, but only when I use the full path-
name to the pvmd, i.e.
   add "saturn dx=/home/wagner/pvm3/lib/pvmd"

Now one question remains:How can I set PVM_ROOT using a remote shell?
Any ideas?

Thanks in advance.
