I am including below an article I posted recently to sci.virual-worlds. I would greatly appreciate it if any of the readers of this group could help me out with this. Thanks in advance.

I am a Postgrad student working on defects in semiconductors at the
University of Newcastle-Upon-Tyne. In connection with this I am using
a software package called PVM (Parallel Virtual Machines) which allows
me to easily right code that spawns slave programs on other machines
in our UNIX network and handles the ineterchange of information
between the master program and slave programs. No doubt many viewers
of this newsgroup have come into conntact with this software.

The reason I am posting here is because I am interested in the
possibilities of using PVM to run Virtual Reality software on networks
of relatievly modest HP/SUN machines rather than purchasing dedicated
top of the range Silicon Graphics machines. I would greatly appreciate
it if anyone who has any experience with such applications could get
in touch with me. Also, since I am a novice in the world of VR, does
anyone have any papers they can forward me on the basic algorithms
used in VR software or can peo p

le suggest any good books etc that I could look up? I am doing this
out of a combination of academic curiosity with hopefully some
industrial applications at the end of my work.

Thanks in advance for all you help - if there are people out there who
would like to set up regular communication on this topic I would be
interested.
