	Tom,

	I suggest checking two things:

	1) make sure there are no logfiles present from dead pvm
		daemons... (i.e. /tmp/pvmd."userid" /tmp/pvml."userid")

	2) make sure that executing your .cshrc produces no output

This second one had me stumped for a day or so. PVM was
working fine for me one day, but the next day, I couldn't
start or stop any daemons.......I had modified my .cshrc
file to echo some stuff to the screen. After removing the
        echos, everything was fine again.

        Hope this helps,

	John Green
