On my linux box ( Slackware 1.1.0 ), I have the same problem. What I did
is copy the BSD386.m4 to LINUX.m4 and re-compile again. It work fine.
( I don't have real network connection, so I can oly guarantte that it
will work on 1 machine only) :)
