True enough, but there's not much point in complaining about
it in the newsgroup. It's fairly unlikely that the spammer
reads the newsgroups that he has assaulted.

My usual response to a "Make Money Fast" posting is to mail
a copy of it to postmaster@wherever and to net-abuse@wherever,
where the "wherever" can usually be deduced from the article
header. In the present case, it resulted in an automated
reply saying something like "Please don't bombard us with
mail, we're aware of the spamming problem and are dealing with
it."  I'm not sure whether to be relieved or annoyed by this;
I would have preferred something more concrete, like "Please
be assured that Stephen Boltinghouse has been strung up by
the balls and beaten severely". The response could have been
genuine; on the other hand, the rapidity of the response seems
to suggest that that site is dumping complaints unread.

To complicate matters, the spammers and related nuisances are
getting more sophisticated. Just the other day I received
(by e-mail) some advertising for child pornography, and it
included the statement "Please don't respond by e-mail,
because this account will be destroyed once the letters have
been sent".
