Hello fellow programmers,

Question 1: should I expect to see a significant difference in the
performance of an application compiled with the ANL MPICH and then
compiled using the vendor supplied MPI on a Power Challenge? (I have not
seen a significant difference. Am I missing compiler flags?)

Machine: 4xR8000@75MHz IRIX64

The application was originally written using EUI, I have previously
ported it to PVM and even Cray's MPT pvm for YMP machines.

I used the ANL/MPICH because the target machine has not got vendor MPI -
that machine is 2xR10000@194MHz IRIX64 and I have problems installing
MPICH:

 a) configure did not recognise R10000 but assumed R4400 (okay I guess)
 b) Self test routines failed because of a missing library (sorry I
have not got the output here)
 c) becuase of this failure mpirun was not created so I had to make it
    explicitly

Question 2: has anybody configured and built MPICH on a MIPS R10000?

Thanks in advance
